Friends of Wimbledon Town is run by a small group of volunteers. We are stronger when we act together and welcome anyone who can offer some time and join our committee (which meets over Zoom about 6 times a year). The roles we are currently looking to fill are as follows:
i. Fundraising and accounts
Have you any experience of fundraising for a charity? Or maybe you have ideas you’d like to try to gain funds for Friends of Wimbledon Town. How could we raise some cash for small projects? Currently we run on a shoestring: we don’t need a lot of money but a small cash flow would give us flexibility to do more. Could you also take on the management of the FWT bank account (Metro), acting as principal signatory and compiling the annual financial statement? Currently this simple task takes only a few minutes a month, and requires little or no accountancy expertise.
ii. The Website
Web Design: Currently our website is functional but unexciting – could you make it more attractive and draw people in?
Content Editor: Could you make sure that it’s up to date and post articles of interest?
Anyone with a bit of experience of web design or content creation would be a valuable addition to our team. You can volunteer for one or both of these roles. Note that we use WordPress as our web content management system. We are happy to train you in the use of this system if you are unfamiliar with it.
iii. Town centre road monitors
Someone to keep an eye on Merton Council website for planning applications relating to the town centre.
